Bridges heat

With the constructive (monolithic) eps smartblock and smartblockplus you totally eliminate thermal bridges, heat loss from inside the shell, or entry of hot or cold from the outside. Due to fluctuation in the heat of the masonry building avoiding losses of energy and condensation phenomena (of molds harmful to the health women).

The block formwork eps smartbloc and smartblockplus avoids the above issues through multiple teeth (patented internationally) (lower and upper block to formwork) avoiding any possibility of error in the assembly and sealing of the masonry completely every part in vertical and horizontal.

Instead of the traditional walls or frame structures with kerbs, beams and concrete pillars unprotected or isolated internally and externally you create multiple thermal bridges, where the thermal behaviour of a part of the building is completely different than the masonry shell.

As a result of a poor performance thermal insulation of any kind it is (eps cork glass wool etc.) leads to an increase in heat loss and causing the decrease in temperature of the inner surface of causing condensation surface and saturation of masonry. The photographic technique to infrared (Figure 02) allows to detect the presence of thermal bridges. These can represent up to 30% 40% of total heat dispersed. The thermal bridges are present at the beams, pillars, sills, balconies and even in the presence of heterogeneity spread in the structure such as joints cement(horizontal and vertical) between the concrete blocks of the so-called thermal bricks, cement blocks that make up cell etc. the wall (Figure 03). To sum up the main causes of a thermal bridge are:

  • presence of different materials in the section of the building (eg masonry brick shell thermal cement blocks, cement blocks cellular structure with reinforced concrete).
  • discontinuity in the form of geometric structure (eg corners).
  • breaks the layer of thermal insulation (eg columns, beams, window frames, etc..).

Effects of thermal bridges

The main adverse effects of thermal bridges are:

  1. Losses heat

The heat loss (Figure 03) arising from thermal bridges account for a substantial heat loss on the building. The thermal bridges may also triple the transmission of heat or cold in a section of the building, while representing only a small part of the area.

  2. Condensation

The surface is a condensation of the most classic in thermal bridges (Figure 04 and 05).
It occurs when normal levels of relative humidity indoors in a thermal comfort are combined with a surface temperature of the case that has lowest dewpoint.

  3. Formation of molds

The formation of mold happens when a particular combination of temperature, steam and substrate favourable. The most common types of fungi (mold) (harmful to the health of women) ripen inside the wall in the presence of high humidity and low temperatures (0 - 15 ° C).

A thermal bridge, due to presence of high relative humidity and low temperature, create favourable conditions and suitable for the formation of mold and odors unpleasant no longer stop because of the internal wall.

  4. Damage to the surface structure and masonry

The cyclical variations of the surface temperature cause a pulverization of materials that make up the structure (internal and external plaster pillars masonry kerbs etc) 'status as noted in 50% of these cases are superficial damage due to the presence of thermal bridges (Source: Fraunhofer Institut für Bauphysik) (Figure 04).

  5. Reduce heat comfort

When the inner surface temperature of a part of the structure (wall, floor, etc..) Is at least two or three degrees of the temperature there is a feeling of discomfort near the surface. This effect is particularly evident when large areas are involved.

A typical example is the area between a floor and not isolated outer wall. To limit this inconvenience usually raises the temperature thus causing further loss of power leading to high operating costs without obtaining a residential comfort.

To sum up all these issues are resolved in advance (under simplifying design life you designers), and finally realized if the structure or envelope with the housing system and constructive eps smartblock eps smartblockplus.
